Protect Your Eyes With Moringa

Did you know that macular degeneration is one of the leading causes of vision loss in North America? It's true, but we don't need to take it lying down. How we nourish our bodies can make a real difference.

How do these nutrients work?

  • Betacarotene is one of the most potent antioxidants available, and it works as an internal sunscreen for both the skin and the eyes.   • Zeaxanthin shields the retina of the eye from light-induced damage. Together with lutein it protects the macula of the eye, an area essential for visual acuity (Marcu, 126).
  • Lutein "appears to reduce harmful free radicals, and it also filters the high-energy, blue wavelengths of visible light” (both indoor and sun-generated) In great news, Moringa leaves contain extraordinary amounts of lutein (Marcu, 126).
